What is new
A10.25- inch touchscreen is now standard.
Part of the first Niro generation introduced for
2017.
The 2022 Kia Niro Electric Vehicle is the each-
electric interpretation of the gasoline- powered Niro mongrel, and there's also
a draw- in mongrel Niro as well( both are reviewed independently). A 64- kWh
battery pack powers a front- mounted motor and provides an EPA- estimated range
of 239 long hauls. still, the Niro Electric Vehicle went 285 long hauls on a
single charge in Edmunds' real- world testing, which is one of the longest
distances we have gotten from a nicely priced Electric Vehicle.
Last year Kia Niro EV came loaded with a long
list of standard features, and thanks to updates for the 2022 model time, it
comes with indeed more. Last time's voluntary10.25- inch center touchscreen is
now standard, so effectively you get the big touchscreen on every Niro EV now.
It indeed comes whisked with a decoration sound system and a navigation system.
You are getting an impressively well- equipped Electric Car indeed if you pick
the base Partner trim.
Overall we suppose largely of the Niro EV. Check
out our test platoon's Expert Rating to learn further about how we rate its
comfort, mileage, effectiveness, and more.
Edmunds Expert Rating
Our Verdict 8.3/10
The Kia Niro EV is a point- packed hatchback
with 239 long hauls of range and an eager- to- please personality. Quick
acceleration and stable running also make the Niro EV further fun to drive than
itseco-friendly nature might suggest. Other highlights include a commodious and
well- allowed
- out innards and plenitude of standard
features.
Performance 8/10
How does the Niro EV drive? Kia markets the Niro EV as a crossover SUV, but it moves and handles more like a small performance auto. Power is generous, immediate and delivered easily. In Edmunds' testing, our Niro EV tester accelerated from 0 to 60 mph in6.8 seconds. That is noticeably quicker than rival EVs similar as the Chevy Bolt and Nissan Leaf, though the Tesla Model 3 is hastily still. The retardation is smooth and harmonious. The Niro offers partial one- pedal driving, but it will not bring you to a complete stop unless you hold the steering paddle. The steering is direct but does not restate important feedback from the road. When the Niro is pushed, the suspense keeps the auto planted and composed. It's delightful to drive this auto snappily, though theeco-oriented tires give only modest quantities of grip.
Comfort 8.5/10
How comfortable is the Niro EV? We like the
Niro's lift quality. It smooths out bumps in the road without being
exorbitantly soft or bouncy. The frontal seats are well shaped and
establishment, but they do not offer numerous adaptations. The binary- zone
climate control works snappily and unevenly, and the hinder air reflections are
a welcome point for passengers. The
ventilated front seats available for Niro cooling are a rare and valued item
for an electric car at this price point.
The Niro EV is veritably quiet with little wind,
tire or road noise coming into the cabin. At low pets, the auto emits a futuristic
droning sound that is needed to help warn climbers. It fades down above 20 mph.
Interior 8.5/10
How’s the innards? Kia nailed the Niro EV's interior, which is unexpectedly veritably different from the standard Niro's. The EV's frontal press has plenitude of redundant storehouse space and adds an intuitive dial shifter to round the rest of the easy- to- use cabin controls. The available10.25- inch screen has a ultraexpensive look to it.As far as space goes, there is a generous quantum up front. The hinder offers plenitude of legroom and headroom for its size — commodity we have knocked some challengers for not having. It's also easy to get in and out of thanks to the square door openings. The hinder window is a bit small, which can hinder your view when backing up or trying to see what is behind you in business. else, the Niro EV is enough easy to see out of.
Technology 8.5/10
How’s the tech? Niro's Infotainment system is functional
and easy to use. There are Electric Car-specific defenses that
show range, driving data and further, which is a welcome point foreco-conscious
motorists. Syncing a smartphone is easy, and the Niro snappily reconnects once
you get back outside. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone integration is standard. Our test Niro EV had three USB anchorages(
one data and two charging anchorages) as well as a wireless charging pad.
The Niro( like its commercial stock, the Hyundai
Kona Electric) comes standard with a full suite of advanced motorist aids. We
like the smooth and easy operation of the adaptive voyage control, especially
in business. But we set up the lane keeping help to be too aggressive,
constantly fighting your hands to make minor corrections.

storage 8/10
How’s the storehouse? hinder weight space is good for its size because of the Niro's hatchback body. As Electric Vehicles go, the Niro is only slightly behind the Kona and Leaf when it comes to total storehouse capacity. But it makes the utmost of it by being easy to load and having hinder seats that fold flat fluently.Up front, you will find a lot of places to store your small particulars inside the cabin. All four doors feature pockets and water bottle holders. The main cupholders are malleable and can be folded down to give another caddy or room for larger water bottles. Eventually, we have set up that it's enough easy to install child safety seats thanks to the Niro EV's ample hinder seat and fluently accessible seat anchors.
Range and effectiveness 8.5/ 10
How are the range and effectiveness? The EPA estimates the Niro EV will use 30 kWh of electricity for every 100 long hauls driven. That is about normal for an Electric Car in this price range. Total EPA- estimated range is 239 long hauls, which is also average. But in real- world driving, we have set up this figure enough conservative. In Edmunds' testing, the Niro traveled 285 long hauls on a single charge and was more effective, using25.3 kWh for every 100 long hauls. This is the alternate-longest tested range behind the Hyundai Kona at 315 long hauls. Depending on your route, the rainfall and your driving style, you will presumably be suitable to outperform the EPA's estimates as well.
Value 8.5/10
Is the Niro EV a good value? You get a lot for your plutocrat relative to other EVs, plus the Niro still qualifies for the full$ civil duty credit. The Niro comes standard with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone integration, binary- zone climate control, automatic exigency retardation and lane keeping help. The available breezy front seats are nice too.The Niro is solidly put together, but coming to the Model 3, the Niro just looks and feels like lower of a bargain. Still, there was nary a squeak or rattle from the auto, especially important given how quiet the Niro EV is on the road.
The Niro comes with a7.2- kW onboard bowl. Charging times vary, but in general Kia estimates a full charge off a proper 240- volt wall unit at7.2 kW( what utmost possessors will have installed at home) takes nine hours and 35 twinkles. It's estimated to take 59 hours to reach a full charge off a standard 120- volt outlet with the included string( not recommended). Keep in mind that these times are going from an empty battery to full; utmost of the time you will just be beating off. The Niro also has DC presto- charging capability.
Wildcard 8.0/ 10
This auto is much further fun than you anticipate it to be and shines both in business and on a twisty road. It's small and nimble, which makes it easy to place into a corner or slide into a small gap in business. The steering does not offer important feedback to the motorist, but it's quick and weighted well. With a set of summer tires, the Niro would be a mean little hot hatchback. It's further conservative- looking than some rivals, but it's also less polarizing. We dig the design and blue accentuations outside and out, and the plastic cladding gives it a bit of an SUV vibe.
Which Niro EV does Edmunds recommend?
The Kia Niro EV is available in two neat situations. The base Partner trim comes with further than enough features to please the maturity of buyers, and it's the trim we recommend.
