General Motors and Honda will develop affordable electric cars that earn less than $30000

GM and Honda Motor will develop a series of affordable electric cars based on a new global platform, the two companies announced Tuesday morning.

The new collaboration deepens relationships between automakers regarding electric and autonomous vehicles.

DETROIT — General Motors and Honda Motor will develop a series of affordable electric cars based on a new global platform, the two companies announced Tuesday morning.

The design will use GM's Ultrium battery technology. That link is expected to translate into millions of low-cost electric vehicles, including famous compact crossovers, from 2027, police say.

“GM and Honda will participate in new sleek technologies, design and manufacturing strategies to deliver desirable and affordable electric vehicles globally, including orders in North America, South America, and China,” said Mary Barra, President of GENERAL MOTORS, in a statement.

More affordable electric cars are at the heart of the collective shift away from emerging technologies. As electric cars follow fashion, they are largely priced for luxury buyers. Ken Morris, GM's senior vice president of electric, independent, and electric cell programs told reporters on a Tuesday morning call that Gm-Honda's upgraded cars are expected to be under the dollar.

Company officials declined to disclose the financial terms of the new collaboration, which will affect Honda and GM-branded vehicles.

The automakers also said they would find "niches of collaboration in electric vehicle battery technology, to reduce the cost of electricity, improve performance and promote the durability of vehicles that are not yet born”.

These batteries can be lighter, with less power viscosity, and provide greater range at a lower cost than instant electric vehicles with lithium-ion batteries.

“Honda and GENERAL MOTORS will work on our successful technology collaboration to help significantly expand electric car contracts,” Toshihiro Meeb, Honda president and CEO, said in a statement. GM plans to be able to produce and handle around 2 million electric vehicles by 2025.

Honda, the leader in energy-efficient cars, has focused heavily on cold-blooded vehicles, but it is in the process of offering more electric models.

The new cooperation deepens the relationship between the two companies regarding electric and autonomous vehicles. Honda initially invested $750 million in Voyage, an autonomous vehicle unit owned by GM Maturity, and GM has produced two Honda electric vehicles for 2024. The companies have also assembled battery units and power cell vehicles.

Rick Schustick, senior vice president of business operations at Honda in the United States, told reporters that Honda still plans to develop its own electric car technology and start installing its own electric cars after the car deals start. electric vehicles manufactured by GM in 2024.
